Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud: Easy, Fast and Highly Elastic
Oracle recently expanded its Data Management Cloud portfolio with the addition of the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud Service to help customers and partners with the deployment of data-mart or data warehouse environments to gain faster insights from their critical business data. Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is the first of many cloud services built on the “self-driving” Oracle Autonomous Cloud Database technology. This service is integrated with applied machine learning to deliver unmatched high performance, reliability, and instant elasticity.
Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud uses the same Oracle Database software and technology found in existing on-premises data warehouse deployment, and is compatible with Oracle’s in-database machine learning algorithms, analytics and BI tools, as well as popular 3rd party offerings. Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is simple to deploy, enabling traditional data mart environments or new monetization use cases.\

Architecting for Analytics
This session answers architecture questions related to the overall structure and strategy for an enterprise analytics system. How do we design a data warehouse for analytics purposes? What do we integrate into a central warehouse or maintain in separate data marts? How do we integrate long term storage systems that we need to query only occasionally? Data lakes? Big Data?? What are the tradeoffs with different tools and how much do we invest in custom code? How do we integrate real-time data streaming? What ETL and integration strategies are we going to use? Where and how do we extend our raw data with calculated measures and analytic functions? How do we create a system that has a strong foundation, but can grow and evolve over time? This presentation will draw from real-world data architecture projects that were designed with analytics in mind.

The Journey to the Clouds!
One of the biggest ongoing discussion points, and in fact a key decision factor to be bedded down prior to implementing a BI, Analytics application is whether it should be implemented as an on premises system, or as a cloud solution. We have come fairly quickly from a place where we had hardware on raised pallets in dark corners of basement floors. By contrast, we are now in the place where as far as possible, the business attempts to give the individual user access to self-served information on their personal device, at any time. The analogy I often use for this is one where my Grandfather one day clung to one end of a firmly planted Tulip and said to me; “ Look how strong I am, I have the world on the other end of this!” The internet used to be the domain of the few, and now it is almost impossible for an individual to function without it. In this discussion I will cover some fairly weighty topics, but in plain ‘ol English! This discussion is for Senior Executives in Finance or IT.

Forecasting the storm recovery resource allocation in electric utility network
A leading cause of power outages in the US is weather driven equipment failure events. Oracle utility customers are seeking machine learning techniques (recommended by the USDOE) to improve real-time risk assessment for critical assets based upon incoming weather forecast. Given an accurate prediction for the location, type, and amount of the storm-damaged equipment, the utility company can position the right number of specialized crews and material resources ahead of time. We develop a novel machine-learning model trained on the history of asset failures and reported weather. Since the weather-reporting stations might be far from the assets and some weather data measurements might be missing, we interpolate the weather conditions at the asset locations using a triangularization function computed with a barycentric coordinates technique implementation. We report performance comparison of multiple machine learning models to recommend the best damage prediction tool.

Data Integration in the Cloud Era
With the drastic rise in cloud offerings from Oracle, developers and users are scrambling to integrate data from on-premise and cloud solutions. This can range from small file transfers containing financial data to solutions for tools like Essbase Cloud Services, to large data sets containing millions of records sourced from a data warehouse loaded into Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC). We also find ourselves integrating across cloud applications (for example, sourcing data from financial systems for reporting and analytics in other cloud tools). This presentation focuses on the gears that move the data, and presents an array of options and best practices to manage data integration and data movement. Come learn about a variety of methodologies available, as well as a cross-product overview. Finally, hear about real world examples, and how data integration actually works with various Oracle cloud products.

Cloud Data Center, Infrastructure, Analytics and integration. Mind the gap!
There is a long list of products and services, but what do I need for Analytics? Is it just the Cloud service? Can I simply connect everything? Let's get to the bottom of this. Let’s get a holistic view on the infrastructure for hybrid cloud analytics. These topics are based on an onshore/offshore industry company moving it's analytics to the cloud, while having to deal with offshore locations as well.
This session will elaborate on how Analytics Cloud, RDC, VPN, GoldenGate, Data Integrator, ETL, FastConnect, Internet Exchanges, your ISP and datacenters are related to each other.
The case study is a datawarehouse and analytics platform in the Oracle Cloud connecting to on-premises sources. The analytics-to-the-cloud first approach is often a great start in the cloud, but at that time you need to think beyond running queries, offloading the ETL-load and moving BI users to the Cloud.
We will mind the gap and compare the upside and downside of different infrastructural approaches.

The world of business analytics is rapidly changing. Technology is focused on bringing more and more functionality to end users and automating or obscuring many of the tasks that were the cornerstone of a number of technology careers. Pilot your Oracle Business Intelligence 12c Cloud Migration on Virtual Box
You know you need to get started on that Oracle Business Intelligence upgrade from 11g to 12c so you do a “lift and shift” to the cloud, but IT resources are tight, plus you’re not really sure how everything is going to fit together and you are going to have to wait for the Database and Server Administrators to get the environments set up. No problem, just use your laptop or PC to pilot the entire migration using Virtual Box and Sample Applications. In no time you will be up and running, using the migration and baseline validation tools, connecting to your real data, verifying dashboards and running reports in 12c. Once that is taken care of you can proceed to the cloud.
This is a case study of how Aleris International piloted its migration from OBIEE 11.1.1.7 to 12.2.1.1 using a laptop, Virtual Box and Sample applications for OBIEE.

Key Take-Aways in Exploring Oracle Cloud to Modernize BI and Analytics
Tektronix is a world-leading manufacturer of test and measurement equipment. Like many global organizations with complex business operations, the process of bringing together data resources for analysis is a challenging but critically important business function. Several business units at Tektronix used independent BI platforms, leading to integration challenges. A fast-track project run by Vlamis Software Solutions using Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) data visualizations consolidated these disparate systems into one modernized their business analytic platform. This all built upon the good work done in various departmental silos as well as their data warehouse and legacy OBIEE system. Come with your questions about how to balance the technology preferences of different functional user groups, how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your current OBIEE implementation, and how to build momentum during a modernization initiative.
