The Journey to the Clouds!
One of the biggest ongoing discussion points, and in fact a key decision factor to be bedded down prior to implementing a BI, Analytics application is whether it should be implemented as an on premises system, or as a cloud solution. We have come fairly quickly from a place where we had hardware on raised pallets in dark corners of basement floors. By contrast, we are now in the place where as far as possible, the business attempts to give the individual user access to self-served information on their personal device, at any time. The analogy I often use for this is one where my Grandfather one day clung to one end of a firmly planted Tulip and said to me; “ Look how strong I am, I have the world on the other end of this!” The internet used to be the domain of the few, and now it is almost impossible for an individual to function without it. In this discussion I will cover some fairly weighty topics, but in plain ‘ol English! This discussion is for Senior Executives in Finance or IT.

Move Data between Apache Hadoop and Oracle Database for Customer 360 Analytics
Customer 360 degree views require data from a variety of streaming sources to be integrated with data stored in Big Data systems and databases. Machine learning and analytics applications need access to mobile device feeds, online community logs, social media feeds, and much more, along with business critical data stored in the database. Tools for data movement between streaming data sources, Big Data platforms and Oracle Databases are essential. In this session, learn about tools that move data between these systems, using technology such as Hive storage handlers for Kafka, direct path load, SQL, and custom Hive SerDes. We will step through using these tools to work with Streaming data (Kafka), Big Data, and Database services in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Bringing your Data Warehouse to the the Lake
As early as 2001 Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) design patterns like "Corporate Information Factory" (CIF) began to emerge. Theses patterns established EDW as the central focus of reporting. Current BI/DW 1.0 projects still follow these patterns today. Problems in the BI/DW 1.0 methodology have appeared. Increases in data volume, variety and velocity have all created considerable challenges for this legacy architecture. In this presentation we will review the legacy of BI/DW 1.0 and dive into the future BI/DW 2.0 and 3.0 architectures. Taking a close look and advanced staging areas, operational data stores and how those architectures can be used for cloud facilitation in BI/DW 2.0. Additionally, this presentation will drive into the BI/DW 3.0 data tipping point and where various Oracle products fit in these new emerging modern data architectures.

Analyze the Global Knowledge Graph with Visualization, Cloud, & Spatial Tech
Every 15 minutes the world’s news is captured into the Global Knowledge Graph. The data set contains nearly a trillion sentiment snapshots and more than 1.5 billion location references.
Oracle ingested the data set on the Bare Metal Cloud to create a data warehouse. The project was designed to meet the needs of big data users, such as cyber threat and defense intelligence analysts. They require analysis of the connections between people, places, events, content and sentiment embedded in traditional data sources. They also need a pipeline and robust visualizations to filter the data, carve out relevant subsets and save the results to a property graph database for further analysis.
This session will describe the challenges, complexities, and technologies used to create a 35TB data warehouse, and filter, visualize, analyze and write results back, with a single click, to the Oracle Spatial and Graph database using Tom Sawyer Perspectives.

HOL: Oracle Big Data SQL: Analyze Data Across Oracle Database, Hadoop, and NoSQL
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Organizations are capturing data in a variety of data stores including Oracle Database, NoSQL, and Hadoop. Oracle Big Data SQL allows you to use Oracle SQL and security policies to seamlessly query across these stores. This means that existing Oracle Database query applications—without changes—will now be able to take advantage of this new information. This hands-on lab introduces you to how this is achieved: providing access to big data sources, implementing unified security, and delivering analyses that combine and correlate all data.

HOL: Using Property Graph and Graph Analytics on Oracle NoSQL DB to analyze data on Meetup.com
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Meetup.com is a social media platform for people interested in the same subject to gather in groups, also to plan, and organize meetings in order to connect with meetup group members for the purpose of exchanging knowledge, discussing subjects and form new networks. All data related to meetup groups and their members, the events they organize and speakers at events as well as comments regarding events can perfectly representated as a property graph. This gives the opportunity to use graph algorithms to analyze these data.
The purpose of this presentation is to show how to build a graph from Meetup.com data and how to use Oracle´s Property Graph In-Memory Analytics Framework to analyze the graph in order to (1) find influencers for certain topics in different locations or (2) identify hot topics people are interested in most. The HOL is "tell & show" using BDL VM 4.11 as environment, RStudio for data wrangling and Big Data Spatial and Graph with Oracle NoSQL DB as data layer. Scripts will be uploaded to and available via Github.

Setting up Oracle BI with Amazon Redshift
So you want to use Oracle Business Intelligence but your organization doesn't have an Oracle Database, or maybe you do but most of your data sources are stored in a warehouse such as Redshift or Snowflake.

At first glance it might seem that Oracle BI is no longer an option, but don't worry -- it is. In this presentation, we'll guide the audience through the nuanced complexity faced when installing a JDBC Driver for the purpose of connecting Oracle Business Intelligence to a database that isn't Oracle. While we use Redshift as an example, the shared insights will be helpful for anyone connecting Oracle BI to any warehouse or database.
